Improving Organizational Effectiveness

The Challenge

A mid-size organization that provides support to government agencies, expressed frustration regarding their inability to gain traction and make progress on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I). They engaged My HR Consultant, LLC® (“MyHR”) to assess their current state, and build an integrated strategy to advance their DE&I efforts going forward.

The Approach

Preparation

After familiarizing ourselves with the organization’s mission, goals, objectives, and workplace culture, MyHR conducted meetings with senior leadership to discuss business objectives, goals and desired outcomes.

Qualitative and Quantitative Data Collection & Analysis

MyHR collaborated with our client to create a customized, anonymous employee survey, which was administered and evaluated by the MyHR team. Informed by the survey results, employee focus groups were facilitated by the MyHR team conducted in order to dig further into themes and pattern that emerged from the survey.

Additionally, data including but not limited to: employee demographics, company policies, turnover and retention reports were collected and analyzed.

All of this input was analyzed in order to evaluate the current state compared to the desired/aspire to state, identify gaps and barriers, and ultimately to create a customized, integrated DE&I Strategy Roadmap including recommendations, goals, strategies and action steps.

Present Findings

A final DE&I Strategy Roadmap Report was delivered to the client, as well as an executive briefing to provide a full debrief in an interactive format.

The Result

MyHR drew on best practices and institutional knowledge to build an action focused DE&I Strategy Roadmap which included rebuilding internal trust, clarifying ownership, roles and responsibilities related to DE&I, as well as identifying goals, strategies, and actions including suggested measures and evaluative metrics.

Goals and Actions included establishing new approaches to recruitment and hiring, actions to create and foster an inclusive culture and improve employee engagement, recommendations on training and leadership development, policy updates, monitoring internal employee demographics and establishing goals as appropriate.
